Ok, you have now gotten some revenge against me, as I like Blondie a great deal and like this song.

So, now here's:

The worst song I've ever heard is "Beth" by Kiss. I can not understand how anyone could listen to that crap.

I guess that's # 52.

The first charting Rap song... unbelievably by the Punker cum New Wave cum Disco Pop band BLONDIE.  I like that record...   TeddyR Though I can't say I took them very seriously by that point.  Y'sure it wasn't the video you hated?  Were you also the one who picked the MELANIE song...??  Hatred  TeddyR  (I know it was schmendrik).

I think this song and performance is just about the worst I've seen: "The Renewed Mind Is the Key"

56. Another whiny, melodramatic, overwrought, overrated song, this time from way back in 1964. The Leader of the Pack, by the Shangri-Las. There are a few depressing examples of the "car crash song" that I could have included, but this one is the most enduring. For some reason, women seem to love this song. Personally, it's only left me wondering what kind of bad-boy bikers you meet in candy stores.

You sir do not know sh!t from shinola... in the old days before you were born, tough guys hung out in what we might have called "candy stores!"  TeddyR  (Wish I could knock out one of those TEDDYR teeth with a cavity from all that sugar consumption...)  The SHANGRI-LAS were non-nutritive, but great, okay, not great like THE SHIRELLES or THE RONETTES, but that record is a clas-sick and doesn't belong on a "worst songs" list...  TeddyR  Take your penance:

What can I say? The song grates on me. But I can appreciate that it has a sort of kitschy appeal, and that it has been well parodied and used to comic effect over the years. There have been a few songs listed here that I wouldn't have considered among the worst, but I will agree that Leader of the Pack probably does not belong. Still, there should be some representation of this manipulative musical subgenre. As a friendly amendment, I would replace #56 with another crash song, one nearly as melodramatic, but without a scrap of fun in it - The Last Kiss, by J. Frank Wilson. I almost nominated Teen Angel, particularly since it seems to be the beginning of that musical fad, but The Last Kiss is far worse. Not only is his high-school sweetheart dead, but he is apparently now just putting in time until he can join her, while pinning responsibility for the tragedy on "The Lord." Nowhere near as depressing as Seasons in the Sun (but then what pop song is?), but definitely an overwrought downer of a tune. And it can't be considered a relic of its time, because Pearl Jam covered it only a few years ago.

Karma for Leader of the Laundromat. I was thinking of that when I made the earlier post.  BounceGiggle

22) Afroman - Because I Got High

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=305vRNoofr8

Not the greatest song ever, but I liked it.

I'd never heard that before.  Not perfect, but it's catchy and satirical, a good novelty song.

It's from 2001, notably from the movie Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.  It's a good novelty song.  Then you start to realize that Afroman has like, 5 albums, with each song done in that style, either about drinking or smoking pot.

Man, I hate Autograph.     TeddyR

Anyway, continuing on with the pain.

38)  BLIND MELON  "No Rain"

You're killing me.  About half the songs you posted are songs I quite like.
