I absolutely hate this song, but for some reason I can't quite explain, it popped into my head recently and won't leave.
The only explanation I can think of is that we rented Passchendaele the other night, which made me think of Remembrance Day, which in turn is connected to a memory from high school. Whoever organized the school's ceremony that year thought that playing this piece of hippy crap in the middle of the proceedings would be a good idea. What it did was send me into an uncontrollable giggling fit that lasted for the rest of the assembly, made all the worse by the solemness of the occasion, and all the more noticeable by the obligatory moment of silence. Thankfully, I had a teacher for that period who was more inclined to be quietly mortified than angry. But alas, I'm paying for it today.
