Asylum are pretty clever in their promotion, as are many other low budget cash in dvds.

I work in a high street music/DVD store, and what'll happen is when a film is in the cinema, they'll release their cash in DVD with front cover art and font design which is very similar to the cinema posters etc. Then you get a whole lot of daft people or people buying for others ("Aye this is for ma wee lassie!") who don't pay attention, just see that its £4.99 and think its a bargain.

I'm still surprised when I bring it to peoples attention and they're like "WHAT?!?!" and then you explain that its still in the cinema and they say they know and I give up on them....

The best one I saw was for Inglourious Basterds. When that was out in the cinema, they re-released the original film (with its very similar title), and had a dvd case with no pictures on it, big ol' nazi eagle on the front and looking cool. Then they had "QUENTIN TARANTINO" on the front cover on a sticker...with "an interview with" in very small writing around it. Apparently the company sold thousands of copies.

They ain't stupid.

I totally know this guy who was in this film. He plays a victim that gets stomped on... Big surprise.

Gotta wonder...do they learn from the politicians, or the other way round?

Asylum pictures: The Saneese food dispensers of the film world.
(For them what ain't familiure, Saneese sells cheap food, and it's make the only cheeseburgers that have never seen a cow.)
