An Angry plant that KILLS AN ASIAN BOY!!???

Ok this one might be tough...

i vaguely remember bits and pieces of this one, but didnt see too much killing in this one other than what my mother told me once i went to bed... here's the story:

it was in the jungle... some building that was like a greenhouse maybe... inside and maybe even outside... the main charachters were persued by this big plant like creature... resembling something the power rangers would fight. main charachters were this one native american looking... possibly asian dude with longish black hair, a white chick who'd be ripped out of a jungle movie... wavy short brown hair, and they had a little asian boy... i THINK he was asian... black hair nontheless...

well i just remember not being TOO scared of this one, but then again...

i had to go to bed once they were being confronted BY the creature, fighting it i guess... and the next morning i asked my mom what had happened and she said "The little boy died"

i felt horrible and was so sad...

i cant figure out this movie for the life of me.

just that it had a plant creature.

Could this be "DNA" (1997) - though the monster looks more like a slick alien from "Aliens" than a plant monster - by any chance?  I believe that the three main characters you remember match up (man, woman, boy).

Yes, I will almost guarantee you it's DNA.  Your description sounded so familiar but I couldn't put a title to it.  Andrew nailed it.
