ICE to meet you!

WWW
« on: December 27, 2008, 11:17:18 AM »

Hi there. Rat-Bat-Spider here. Just announcing to the general populace that as of January 1'st, I am going to watch a movie every single day and do a review on it. Original, huh? I know. Its just an exercise to help keep my writing sharp, and an excuse to watch a bunch of movies. I wanted to start up a website for this, but I'm kind of new to the internet, and nobody I knew could teach me how, so I'm going to start off small until I learn how to make a web page. So if anybody is interested, check out my Myspace blog. It's called Cinematronica; search for it just like that. I already have an overview of how things are going to work as well as a test review for Twilight. So come on over and I'll add you as a friend. BTW I'll still be on the threads; this isn't my day job or anything. And if anyone out there can teach me how to make a web page, I would love to learn! Thanks!!!

Hey R-B-S:

Good idea, I look forward to keeping up with it.

The easiest way to get a bigger web presence may be to use one of the free blogging services, for example http://wordpress.com/.  I can't speak for other services, but I find wordpress fairly intuitive to use.

If that's successful and you want to do even more, then you can always register your own domain (about $15), find hosting (as low as $10/month), and move your blog over to that new website.

Thanks for the advice, friend! I may just do that. I could always use more coverage, so I could always do the blog on two sites instead of just one. When I figure out this whole blogging thing, that is. Smile

You all are the smartest posters I've seen in my short time on the Internet, and I hope to have you guys keep me in line if I start to suck. See ya!!!

Good luck.  I'll be extremely impressed if you can keep to a daily schedule for an entire year, especially if you write reviews the length of the TWILIGHT one.  I ran a blog once where I posted everyday for about 6 months before running out of steam.  The articles were shorter than yours, though.  I would write an entire week's worth on a weekend and set them to publish throughout the week.

I couldn't do it; not every day.  The problem isn't doing the mechanical writing, the problem is that I tend to tell stories and do all sorts of free association in the reviews.  For that, I've found that I have to do things, see stuff, talk to people - the mental equivalent of seeding a random number generator.

It is good to see some new cult and b-movie sites popping up.  With you and Saucerman, it's two in less than a week!
