I just finished watching a screening to a packed house of a rare, hard to find, uncut VHS version of a shot-on-video horror film called
Splatter Farm. It was made by a set of twins in the late 1980's and it features disembodied masturbation, vomit eating, grandma/boy sex, decapitation then sex with the head, feeling up a corpse, drain-o poisoning, anal fisting then smearing feces on faces, defecating knives, and a higher ketchup-for-blood ratio than any movie I've ever seen. There's a DVD out there but apparently most of the good stuff I just mentioned was cut in order to meet something called "standards." It's a very amateur film in many ways, but the sheer shock value of so many scenes in this movie really make up for its lack of a reasonable audio mix, shot to shot continuity, or actors who didn't seem like they were there because they owned the place or lived next door. I highly recommend this movie to all lovers of trash cinema. It also has the benefit of being shot entirely on VHS (RCA brand for that matter, it's in the credits). This along with Chester Turner's
Black Devil Doll From Hell (1984) would make a fine double bill.
Before the movie started the emcee not only got punched in the face by a crazy lady who was trying to do a new dance move called "the stanky leg" (
) but he also gave away a $10 gift certificate to the local movie store to the person who could correctly name the only movie that was shot on video and received a 35mm blowup for drive-in theatre projection. If you can name that movie I'll send you something you might like. That's a promise I will keep or you can come to where I live and punch me in the face too. I'll check back in 24 hours.
