Y'know the new graphics are good and all but did they iron out a bunch of bugs?
That's the only reason I'm excited, a release of Skyrim that's less...

Like that.

My NPC's have never looked like that!  Of course, I've always played on the PC.

Getting Skyrim to work is frustrating.

The way I have it running now it lags and crashes frequently.

In one of the previous builds of the game it looked incredible.

When I was in Winterhold a blizzard came in and my two companions (Rumarin from Interesting NPCs and Inigo from INIGO) automatically equipped winter wear that covered their faces and the village NPCs did the same thing.

As the snow hit their hoods it actually looked like how a mask would be in a blizzard. Covered in realistic looking frost.

That build, sadly, stopped working.

Modding is fun, but it conflicting mods can cause problems.  Have you heard of SKYWIND?

That's a Morrowind remake in the Skyrim engine, right?

Right.  I've been waiting two years for them to finish it.  The development videos look awesome!  I always thought Morrowind had the best storyline of any of the Elder Scrolls games.

I've heard that much. I own Morrowind but didn't get very far in it.

I got it shortly after it came out, and played through the game and the two DLC's multiple times.  Incredible stories on all three!

Interesting. I was just about to buy Skyrim (I like to wait until these games are years old and the price has gone down, bugs are fixed and the community has fully modded it).

I am afraid that any overhaul can only increase the price while creating new bugs, two clear negatives for me.

AJ, I suspect your problem comes from mods---looks like missing textures or meshes, maybe from a conflict or maybe from a bad installation. The new Skyrim probably won't fix that for you.

From the little I've seen of what Bethesda's so far released, I prefer the 2011 Skyrim to the over-polished updating.

To be honest neither do I. I was searching my Steam screenshots for bugs and that was the only one.

The thing is that Skyrim is hard to mod as it suffers from a lot of stability issues.

That's fair, however the interesting thing with SE is the fact that the 2011 PC release was a 32-bit program. SE on the other hand is 64-bit which can mean much better performance.

I constantly check skse.silverlock.org to see if the new script extender is out.
I want to slam my head against the desk when I see it still doesn't exist.
The best TESV mods require SKSE, most notably SkyUI which is the most popular mod on the Skyrim Nexus.
In fact once you've used SkyUI you never want to go back to the regular UI because it's such a mess.

Obviously I'm no programmer but I find it kind of silly that every Bethesda game that comes out gets a Script Extender.
You'd think since Bethesda has such a hard-on for the modding community that they'd program their games to not require script extenders.
I'm not sure if you could install SKSE-64 on a console.        = \
