Ever hear a song in the soundtrack of an old movie that you simply must own, but can't find? It was either produced specifically for the movie, written by some one-hit wonder of another decade (and it's not his one hit), or it's an obscure old song by an obscure old band. The soundtrack, and any other album it might have been on, is years out of print, sold poorly, and was probably on vinyl or cassettes. In any case, you simply must have it, and you can't get it.

This came to mind after watching The Running Man again recently. I've seen it a few times since it came out, and I get a kick out of it. The problem this time: I got the closing theme stuck in my head for a couple of days. It's a catchy tune, and I must admit to having a weakness for hard pop of the mid-80s. Took me a while, but I eventually found the right John Parr album on eBay. Parr, meanwhile, resides in the where-are-they-now file.

More difficult to find is a song from Vanishing Point. It's played at the climax, as Kowalski makes his big final confrontation with the cops. Very catchy, upbeat song, and I'm having little luck tracking it down.

There have been others, but those two spring to mind right now.

Anybody else have a movie song they can't find?

I always liked the song that the two heroes were singing in Phantasm, where their just sitting around playing their guitars...

I liked the country and western songs in PSYCHO FROM TEXAS by various artists but as far as I know a soundtrack was never released.

ROCKULA had some good songs, as the hero was part of a band.  I make do with direct from soundtrack  copys on my tape deck, but prefer the stand alone cd/tape where i can get it.

The theme song to Return of the Killer Tomatoes. I know it was just a remix of the original theme song, but I always liked it.

Another song was the song in Chasing Amy that was playing during the montage with Holden and Alyssa hanging out. I just always liked it.

Personally, I'd love to have a copy of the Devo-ripoff "Chemical Song" from Big Meat Eater.

I've always wanted a copy of the song played over the ending credits of My Bloody Valentine. Anyone know who sings it? The only name that comes to mind is Paul Williams and I'm probably way off.
