okay not sure about anything on this movie.  i just recall it being in color, and there being something similar to a giant sea snail or something with a shell and the people traveled inside of it and sort of befriended it and there was an island so maybe they were marooned on it or something.  seems very surreal in tone and mode in recollecting it

that's about all i can remember probably not enough to get it.

This sounds like Doctor Dolittle (1967) (the real one with Rex Harrison, not that crap with Eddie "I haven't been funny in 20 years" Murphy).

Thank you!  I didn't even consider this film due to the fact that the eddie murphy one is so DIFFERENT so i figured they'd have more relation.
