I see alot of good movies and alot of bad movies, but not to often one that makes me say "okay ,wait a minute". The "big name" associated with this is Conrad Brooks who was in Plan 9 from Outer Space. Yes, the presence of a guy who knows the guy who made the infamous worst movie of all time is a viable selling point for a movie. It's put out by Alpha Video, a company known for more or less indiscriminate rereleases of forgotten movies from the 50's and earlier that have fallen into public domain.

Small | Large

Hillbilly Monster is an excruciating, yet somehow also delightful hour and 20 minutes. It's shot on digital video and the only expense they appear to have taken is some Halloween type makeup for the "monster". Actually in one scene someone buys a bottled water from a guy who has some other bottled waters. So they purchased that for the shoot. The acting and editing are atrocious. A scene will end and 5 seconds later they will cut. A typical line of dialogue will have words wrongly emphasized, then the speaker mumbles out the rest of it. In some scenes the audio has a distracting loud buzz.

Much of the movie is shot at a carnival. You see every part of it, some parts more than once. There are funky banners for old sideshow attractions, some of which, like the snake lady, I remember seeing at the Woodstock Fair as a kid. I saw the lobster claw guy once too just me like 8 alone in the tent with the guy. All that stuff is too politcally incorrect for Connecticut now, this was filmed southward in Maryland and West Virgina. The Hillbilly Monster of the title is one of these attractions. He escapes and the search is on to find him as he is bringing in a lot of money for the corrupt owner. There are some attractive women, though possibly in fact probably due mostly to the distraction factor, the movie is so bad that average women look amazing, but no nudity or anything.

This 1 hr and 20 minutes make a last period science class seem like a cakewalk. It never ends. highest possible recomendation 5/5
