I was watching America's Funniest Home Videos earlier and they had a segment of kids freaking out while opening Christmas presents.  Many of the videos were shot at night, indicating it was Christmas Eve.

Do you think it's better to open Christmas gifts on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning.

Opening them on Christmas Eve just seems wrong to me.
For years my family opened them on Christmas morning, but several years ago, they scrapped that and have been doing it on Christmas Eve ever since.
If you open them all on Christmas Eve, then what is there to do on Christmas Day?

Personally, I think there's nothing better than opening them in the morning.

What do you think?

Around my home we usually open gifts Christmas Eve. This is because we need room for Santa to put out his stuff. However this year we might wait for a change because my kids are now out of the whole Santa phase of their lives. I figure this will change again as soon as my kids get grown and we will be back to Christmas Eve again. Figure they will want to spend Christmas in their homes with their partners and any children they have when they reach that phase of their lives.

Definitely Christmas morning. It's always torturous (especially when you're very young) waiting in bed and then waiting for everybody else to wake up, but when you finally open one there is pretty much no better feeling.  TeddyR Now I feel sad that it's only August.  Bluesad

Generally christmas morning, but bear in mind the people with many extended family members: I celebrate christmas morning with immediate family, have lunch with my mum's side of the family and dinner with my dad's [generally though this does change sometimes]

When I was a kid, my sisters and I were allowed to open one gift each on Chritmas Eve, but we had to wait until Christmas morning to open the rest.

We are all adults now, but we still meet at my mom and dad's house on Christmas morning to open gifts.  My mother cooks a huge turkey dinner and we eat it around 2 or 3 o'clock in the afternoon.
