filming now

this libertarian columnist happens to work near where they are filming this.  I haven't read much about this but it appears as though the chinese in this case have taken over america.  WHy on earth they would want to take on 12 trillion dollars worth of debt and the herculean task of revitalizing detroit and other former places of industry is beyond me.  that's hollywood for you, pure fantasy

I can see the chinese not being too happy about this. Hell, they might as well've gone with North Korea or Iran instead.

lol  neither of those countries have anything resembling the military to overtake the US.  that's why it's so laughable that people in washington are constantly trying to get us to invade them.

as for the shinese not being happy about it, who frickin cares? they can make their own answer movie if they want, they own our government not us

This is a re-make I might actually want to see.

Well, it can't be much worse than the original, which should have been titled RED YAWN.  Although, years later it's interesting to watch if only to see C. Thomas Howell and the gang.

Thank you for the photos lester1/2jr.

Already I see a couple of differences from the original.

Original: the enemy was the Russians and the Cubans.
Remake: the enemy is the Chinese.

Original: it takes place in a relatively rural area of the U.S. Rural Colorado I believe.
Remake: it takes place in an urban area of the U.S.

Original: the invasion came up through Mexico.
Remake: the invasion came through . . . ?

From the posters, it does seem to have something of a George Orwell vibe to it, with his "All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others."

Anyway, I saw the original, and for me, it was a waste of both time and money, so I'll probably skip the remake.

Because more people will pay money to see it than would go to see an original story nobody knew anything about.
