We're all just victims of circumstance

The Wicker Man (1973)- I can't say much, this movie has been discussed here many times.

Synopsis Sgt. Howie goes to Summerisle and gets a big surprise.

Shoot'em Up (2007) - 86 minutes of almost continuous gunfire. The most over the top action movie I have ever seen.

Clive Owen and Monica Belluci fight save a baby from assassins and expose a government plot.

The Big Red One (1980)- The exploits of the US First Infantry Division in WWII, told through a series of vignettes covering the military actions they were involved in.

The story mainly follows four members of a rifle squad lead by Lee Marvin.

This wasn't the original release, but the reconstruction. In 2004 a group of producers got together to reconstruct writer/director Sam Fuller's original vision for the film. They did a successful job because the movie is vastly improved  compared to original.

The running time is almost three hours, but it is well worth watching.

Outpost(2008)- A group of mercnaries (Lead by Ray Stevenson) are hired to lead a scientist to secret bunker close to a war zone somewhere in Eastern  Europe.

They really don't know what it's all about until things start going south and then hell breaks loose.

Start with Nazis, add unified field theory, a mention of the Philadelphia Experiment and you have yourself a pretty decent little Science Fiction Horror tale.

I didn't expect much from it, but it really surprised me. It has some minor problems, but it's really worth watching.

Earth vs. The Spider (1958)- This was a rewatch for me and I can't add anything to what I've said before.

I started watching Curse of the Demon with Dana Andrews, but the sleepies caught up to me, so I'll have to save that one for later.

Outpost is a very British movie with only one American among the mercenaries.  Ray Stevenson is really believable as the leader of the group.

I really enjoyed Outpost. If you enjoy it; try to also check out The Bunker (2001).

Outpost is great and much better than The Bunker (2001) or the overrated Deathwatch (2002).

Nice line-up.  I had a very slow DVD-watching weekend.

* THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME (Charles Laughton version)

* One NIGHT GALLERY episode from the Season Two boxed set

* VOYAGE TO THE PLANET OF PREHISTORIC WOMEN

* Started watching XTRO (never saw it before) and fell asleep after about 20 minutes.  I'll try again soon.
