No, this isn't about Repo Man, the cool Alex Cox flick, but 2010's Repo Men with Jude Law and Forrest Whitaker.  If you're not familiar with it, it takes place in the near future where one can purchase very expensive artificial organs (referred to as "artiforgs" which is kind of fun to say) on credit, but if one falls behind in payments for 3 months they'll send a repo man out to retrieve the organ.  Jude Law's character is one of the top reposessors in the business, but an unfortunate accident leaves him with an artificial heart and he finds himself in the same place as those he's had to hunt down.  You can kind of guess where it goes from here.

I can handle a preposterous scenario like this just fine, but the filmmaker's here aren't smart enough to make it work.  The future as it's presented here isn't in some sort of state of dystopia, and I didn't get the impression of an oppressive government, so the totally reckless way that these repo men go about their business would create such public outrage that it wouldn't last.  If the writers were trying to comment on the nation's financial state of affairs, healthcare, corrupt law enforcements, evil corporations, etc., they sure didn't convice me.  The movie's a stylistic mess, and I don't want to really spoil anything but I'll say that the ending comes off as totally contrived even though it's similar to that of one of my favorite films.  On a positive note, one of the bad guys gets killed with a typewriter!

Yeah, I saw this and it didn't really interest me. From what you say, if it were a dystopian future setting it would have similar ring to Logan's Run, which would probably work alot better. I will take your recommendation.
