Disney has indeed given us a legacy of characters (many of them "borrowed" from existing literature).  Which ones do you like/dislike?

LIKE:

Gaston (Beauty And The Beast)

He gazes at himself lovingly, treats Belle like a piece of wild game and beats the crap out of his best friend.  He's just an @sshole and I love it!

Rex (Toy Story)
Small | Large

A T-Rex with an inferiority complex...to  me thats genius.

Donald Duck

Not the representation of him on the modern stuff, rather the ill tempered duck from days past we all know and love.

DISLIKE:
Aladdin

He just irritates the hell out of me.  He whines a lot and doesn't deserve Princess Jasmine quite frankly.  A hero that steals seems wrong too.

The Beast

Just like Aladdin, another whiny d!ick who doesn't deserve a hot chick.

Like: The genie from ALLADIN  (a lot of one liners from Robin Williams that definately went right over the kiddies heads)

Dislike: Donald Duck - even as a kid I just never liked the character

Dislike:

Mickey annoys me, he always has.  I never found his cartoons entertaining and his voice is overly annoying.  Probably one of the most overrated cartoon characters of all time

Like:

I love Goofy, especially the cartoons that feature a voice over like he is part of some informational video.  They slay me every time I watch them.

I didn't grow up with no DISNEY.  I finally got to see bits in the '70s thru Disney TV shows, and finally videotape when I rented - or bought - many DISNEY movies and shorts collections.  This one is from SCARY TALES... Watch the ghost command MICKEY to play, twice, and MICKEY replies...??

like this one, from 1929, hand drawn, are an awful lot of fun even now... maybe especially now.  I was never no MICKEY fan, he's merely a foil, but can appreciate some of the old cartoons, even the effete, color, MICKEY in the later ones (this I can't believe is 1935 - damned early!) ... The greatest of all time:

I like DONALD he gave BOB HOPE all of his material: venal, superficial, vain, cheap, penny-pnchin', mean-spirited, petty.

Donald and Goofy are favourites for sure. A couple of lovable f**k-ups, one of them with serious anger issues.

And I also don't care for Mickey. He's not as entertaining as Goofy or Donald, and there's just something wrong about the amount of importance he's given. It's pretty clear that he's the star, the leader and the most important of the characters. It feels forced, and that inequality lurking between the lines just bothers me. Apart from being the oldest and most successfully marketed of the characters, and marginally smarter, there's just no reason Mickey should be elevated so high above his friends.

Agreed...although Disney's argument would be "it all started with a mouse".

DISLIKE
Handy Manny

A blatant take off of Bob The Builder but completely lacking any charisma.  His voice makes me want to sleep.

LIKE
Mike Wazowski/Sully (Monsters Inc)

I love these guys.  Mike is the short one with the ego and Sully is the big guy who is more laid back.

Handy Manny manages to rip off Bob and Dora the Explorer at the same time. I will say that his Spanish is more useful than Dora's, but it's like some weird compulsion that he says everything twice. And his neighbour is like Brainy Smurf but with less charisma.

And something in the colour scheme of that show tells me The Home Depot has money in it somewhere.

Donald Duck is badass.

I also have loved Scrooge McDuck.  He's great in Ducktales, and the Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck (basically a comic-based telling of his entire life, up to the point he meets Huey, Dewey, and Louie) is fantastic.

Scrooge is also badass, much like his nephew.

Ducktales is the sh*t!!!!  That was my Disney growing up.  I never watched Mickey or any of the other things, I watched Ducktales.  And I still love it!  Also, I had some of the comics from it...  In German.   TeddyR  I always wanted a money pit, just like Scrooge McDuck.  Now THAT would be cool.

As for which character I hate?  Hmm...  I have to say Lightning McQueen from Cars.  I never could relate to or understand him at all.  To be honest, that movie was really a fail for the most part.

Cars was one of their worst films ever.  Too much redneck in it.   Thumbdown
