Well the Health Care Bill has passed for better or for worse (That's a whole another dicuss for another topic), but let's forget about that now.  With that out of the way, what do you think the President, Congress, and other people should focus on now?  I saw a poll at CNN and it got me thinking.  The options were: Jobs, Immigration, Social Security, National Security, and foreign policy.

I personally I think the next issue to tackle is jobs with the unemployeement and all of that.  I think Obama should focus on that next and work from there.

So, what do you think the next issue should be?  Just say the issue and give a reason why you think it is important.  No reason to rant, just be honest and give a humble opinion, but don't go overboard.

I think he should focus on the national debt.  I think I've had enough foreign policy for the next 100 years or so.  We are already in the middle of two wars or towards the end more hopefully.  CHina owns us so there is no way anyone is going to do anything with Iran.

he needs to throw out the status quo in regards to spending and reduce the size of the budget, not just slow the growth of spending.  bottomline: we are too underwater

I keep thinking back to the days of his campaign and him saving repeatedly.. Im going to go through the budget line by line and eliminate waste...Im still waiting, Mr. President.   TeddyR   I understand he has been busy but I would like to see it happen.

He can put the money saved towards heath care    TongueOut

Repealing DADT comes in as very close second.

Unemployment.  And if you ask me,, this should have been priority over health care.

You want to end unemployment?  Make business prosper, pure and simple.  the government does NOT create jobs and never has, with the sole exception of actual federal employees.  But this president does not understand capitalism, since every single one of his political mentors was a radical from the 60's.

Cut taxes, keep the good regulations, get rid of the stupid ones, and let business do its thing!

I don't recall him ever saying that we need a new WPA type thing. I think that was inferred on him, just like we inferred health care was going to be nationalized-- now it's just going to suck for rich and poor. Anyways having the government produce commodities just doesn't make sense. That could possibly kill jobs in the private sector of production (just moving jobs and you still have high unemployment). Two, government will get it's money no matter what-- if it's products are crap; it get's tax payer money so it'll still produce.

Another thing people are frightened about China owning just a fraction of US debt; it's just a fraction. Most is held by US corporations, and rich US citizens. Really I say the best thing is that government buys off debts across the board, though not all debts, as long as they don't resort to more inflationary measures. Once done, then consumer spending will increase. Sure banks won't want to loan for awhile, but once they see how they can profit and then they'll loan, then businesses can invest in capital. In long run though the debts will still be there and have to be payed off through taxes, which means programs may have to be slashed. So it's really just deferring the debt payment, and freezing it.

yeah but politically there is a difference between china owning our debt and americans owning.  and the banks borrowing money at 0 to buy debt and get the 3 percent or whatever is a travesty.

The President can't do anything about jobs, except try to take credit when the economy eventually rebounds on its own.  Let him focus on foreign policy, which is actually in his job description.

Why, would he do that...

Have you seen Demolition Man (1993)?

Once Government assumes the responsibility to clean our faces (New Healthcare Law) government must make sure we are at perfect health... Legalizing any recreational drugs is proactive just like allowing us to eat food's with transfats, sugar and flour... although it may sounds extreame we are talking about a government that wrote a few thousand page bill and voted on it without reading it...

Yep, if they actually sat down and read the bill they would noticed that CHILDREN WITH PRE-EXISTING CONDITIONS WILL NOT BE COVERED AUTOMATIC AS OBAMA HAS SAID.

(Dammit... another 6 Americans has just died without free healthcare)
