Something Weird. Great title, but that's about it.
This is a combination gangster movie / soft-core sex film. Sounds like a sure-fire piece of entertainment, but it's really pretty dull.
The movie is set in September, 1927. Most of the male characters have late 1960s haircuts and clothing, but the women seem to have more authentic 1920s styles.
The gangsters don't seem very tough to me . . . and there isn't enough violence to make it a good crime movie. There's some humor, but not enough to make it a good comedy. And there's some nudity and soft-core sex, but not enough to make it a good sleaze flick. (Although, there is a gratuitous orgy scene in a nightclub that includes one woman grabbing a pickle . . . for a moment it seems like something bizarre is about to happen . . . then she just drops the pickle on the floor).
The star of the movie is John Alderman who appeared in numerous exploitation movies and TV series. Poor guy was only in his mid fifties when he died in 1987.
