Just viewed Jack Hills 1964 film SPIDER BABY ! ! !  This is now one of my top 10 B- Films of all time. Has anyone seen this extremely offbeat film? Its a very bizarre film that I want to purchase for my collection. Music, Ccnematography, sets, unique acting, characters, and Lon Chaney Jr. are all great.

The characters in this film are so wacky and yet convincing except that cigar smoking guy with the Hitler mustache, he was the only bad part of the film. Image Entertainment put out a good quality DVD with some great extra's. You won't be dissappointed with the film SPIDER BABY. The film will become one of your all time favorites This film was shot in 12 days and it is a must see for all movie fans.

I agree-- It's like the midway point between the Addams Family and the Texas Chainsaw Massacre! If you get the DVD, Jack Hill's commentary is great, too. I love his rationale behind casting Mantan Moreland as the pre-credits victim; Most of the film's audience had grown up seeing him as the lovable comic relief, and he's doing the exact same schtick he did then, so the audience is caught off guard when Virginia "stings" him (read: Slams a window on him and hacks his ear off with a butcher knife).

Poor Mantan...

I adore the way the mousey secretary turns into a total horror-movie geek when she comes out of her shell; she hardly utters a word before the subject comes up.

SECRETARY: ...But my favorite monster of them all? The Wolfman.
BRUNO (LON CHANEY, JR.): There's going to be a full moon tonight...

Yea, the Lon Chaney line was great and when the girl goes to "sting" someone. The adio commentary and the segment with Johnny Legend interviewing the cast at a showing of the film in California were nice extra's.
