Bought a double feature DVD at a store called ODD JOB for $4.99 last week. The two films on it were HORROR EXPRESS (1972) and BLOOD TIDE (1982). A company called CATCOM is the distributor of the DVD. Good quality.

HORROR EXPRESS - This movie stars Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing, Telly Savalas. This is a cool horror story that takes place on a train. The subject of the creature on the train is actually interesting. Cushing has some great lines in this film and Savalas plays a neat Russian kosack. The film is real quality. The train shots are neat and effective just as the on train scenes. The whole film moves real good and even involves the walking dead at the end for all you zombie fans.
I really enjoyed this film. Its a 5 ***** star movie.

BLOOD TIDE - Neat little location film with good story. Starring James Earl Jones, Jose Ferrer. The James Earl Jone character is horrible cast/acted in this movie. The story is about an ancient creature that lives in the sea just off this Greek Isle. The creature needs a sacrifice type of film. I just like the Greek Isle setting combined with the basic story line. This film is worth watching.  **1/2 star movie.

EXTRAS -  This DVD has some great extra shorts unlike some cheaper DVD's that use Betty Boop and Casper the Ghost. This DVD using many shorts like a SUPERMAN cartoon from the 40's (?)  a series that I have never seen before that had unique art work. Also featured a halloween POPEYE  cartoon that was entertaining since I haven't actually watched a POPEYE cartoon in 25 years. The DVD also had old commercials from the 50's like LIONEL TRAIN and SHRUNKEN HEADS from Hasbro company. Also a COKE commercial from the 70's. Another short was a warning about drunk driving in b/w.  The whole DVD was very enjoyable especially for the price of $4.99. The store is a chain called ODD JOB. The store also had other DVD's like specials, westerns, etc.

I remember starting to watch Horror Express once when I was about 10. I got to the point where the guy looks in the crate and see the thing's glowing eyes and I turned it off! It still gave me nightmares. I did eventually watch all of it, but for years I'd avoid it every time it was on TV.

Yeah, "Horror Express" is enjoyable, but, what film starring Cushing and Lee is not. But, the surprise treat is the "Superman" cartoon, if that is indeed one of the ones I remember, that were made in the '40's. Great villains. Great animation. Sixty years later, still one of the best animated series ever made. Well, worth seeing if one can find the others in the series. Enjoy!

Horror express!!!! That's truly a classic. Just to think there was a time we could afford Cushing and Lee in the same movie... I have to watch it again.
