I had heard that Criterion was going to release "Hausu" on DVD.  Thanks for reminding me of the title (I've wanted to get it on DVD for a while), because it looks like the DVD has been released!  Yahoo!

Man, this movie's a riot.. watched it with my sister at the theatre and we busted up till we were crying.  The severed head biting the girl on the butt was just one highlight.

Just saw it (I still have the extras to go through).  It was every bit as good as I'd hoped.  The nearest comparison is to a weirder EVIL DEAD II.  There is no way this should have been put in the "bad movies" section!  Smile

This was on IFC a while ago, and I remember trying to watch it and I just couldn't finish, I don't remember why.  I rented it when it came available and loved it!  I think I couldn't watch it on IFC because it was either on too late or the channel wasn't working.

This movie is unbelievably entertaining.  Saw it at a 24 hour horror marathon at a little theatre here in Columbus about a month ago.  It started at about 2 in the morning, and my mind was already blown from watching good and bad horror movies all day in a theatre full of foul smelling folks.  Needless to say, this was the highlight of the marathon.  I bought the criterion dvd the day it came out, and was surprised that it  has  :thumbup:held up to repeat viewings so well.  One of the best movies ever made.  And no, you don't have to be buzzed to enjoy it.

it was at the 2nd Annual Shock Around The Clock 24 horror marathon at the Grandview theatre (formerly the Drexel grandview) on Oct 22 23.  Hausu was the best movie there, but other highlights included Martyrs, Psycho, Island of Lost Souls, 13 Ghosts, Dressed to Kill, Robo Geisha and Frankenstein.  If you live near columbus check it out next year.  The same people also do a sci fi marathon in the spring.
