New Year's Resolutions?

It's that time of year again!

Mine: I seriously want to stop smoking.

It's disgusting and smelly, makes me cough at times like an old broad, and is getting right expensive.

Personally I don't believe in New Year's Resolutions. When you're truly ready to quit something, start something, change a behavior, etc., you'll do it. I would be surprised if more than 5% of people who make NY resolutions are actually successful. Why? Because a resolution made for the sake of a once-a-year holiday is just that: an obligatory gesture that means nothing unless the will to follow through is there.

I quit smoking a little over 4 years ago, after 19 years of smoking and several bad attempts at quitting. I quit because I was ready to quit, finally developed the willpower to succeed, and did it cold-turkey. At the time I had considered waiting and making it a NY resolution because it was only a month and a half away, but I realized that I was at an important crossroads where I was very motivated to quit, and if I waited maybe that window would pass.

Damn, I just realized I probably s**t all over the thread. Sorry about that. I hit reply and got carried away.

I was the same years ago. I only drink bottles water now.
I still drink Pepsi but I buy cans not big bottles. I only wish I had cut down earlier, it was not good for my teeth.



Mine is too register with a doctor which I've never done before. I get kinda nervous and shy about illnesses and things.

I've been married for 14 years and I've had that "ignoring" thing myself.  What I really love, is when you ask them what's the matter, and they go, "nothing."  And the more you ask them, the nastier they get, until it's "NOTHING"S the matter!

It's like they want you to figure it out, and don't care how hard you struggle with it just as long as you figure it out somehow. 

It's like a one-sided doctor visit-you can't diagnose the problem unless you get told where it hurts.

And, my other resolution is to try, I said try to be a better person, and a nicer person.  I'll still be an evil Ayleid sorceror-king, but I'll try to be less evil.

Well, Philly.  On the way to work alone there's 3.  One every 4 blocks.  Then, once at work, there's two more on either side.  The local bar is across the street from my job.  I limit the Diet Lemonade Tea though.  I drank a lot of them over the summer.
