I've been trying to decide if the remake of Piranha is worth getting (or at least renting). The reviews sound "good" and all (or at least as good as a Piranha film can get), but I'm trying to decide whether or not to save my money and just stick with the 70's film.
What do you folks reccomend?

The remake is worth a rental at least. Mindless bloodshed with tons of T&A.

I'm disappointed that I did not see the remake in the theater in 3-D.

The only reason, however, is that the movie features Kelly Brook cavorting naked in the waves, in 3-D!

I care nothing about the rest of the movie. Have you seen Kelly Brook?

I'll take Piranha 3D.  Never been much of a fan of the Joe Dante original.

Same here. The climax of the original seems to go on forever. The remake is more slick, and pumps up the violence and the sexuality without looking tacky or mean spirited. It's no small feat, definitelly Alexandra Aja knew what he was doing.

I'm a fan of the original, but I would say that the remake is also well worth your time.  A great movie that knows exactly what it is, and what it needs to deliver - and it does, in spades.  Plus, as previously mentioned - KELLY BROOK!!!

The remake is decent but actually kind of boring until the massacre during the last 20 or 30 minutes. However, the original Joe Dante Piranha is one of the truly great B movies of all time. I like how the original steadily builds without ever getting boring as well as having a knowing sense of humor about how absurd it truly is.

I highly recommend the remake, as much as I love the original. The remake has plenty of ridiculously wonderful scenes, from Kelly Brooke's and pornstar ladies underwater nude opera dance to the spring break massacre. The gore is pretty damned insane (especially for a mainstream movie) and there is enough homages, black humour and T&A to satisfy all tastes. Plus some great cameos.

Go buy it!

I'm with the above.  Lookingup

Both good, but I'd go with the original as I feel the pacing is a little better.

I've got to disagree.  The original Piranha is pretty dull, if you ask me.  It's impossible to care about any of the characters, most of the jokes don't work, and the feeding frenzy, when it finally happened, wasn't worth the wait.  Really, it's just another Jaws ripoff to me.

I agree. Even the remake Corman produced for TV was better.
