Now that Blair Witch 2 has come, and gone from the theatres, to home video, one can only wonder what Haxan Pictures will come up with, for the third chapter. Any ideas?

I have read that Daniel Myrick and Eduadro Sanchez (the 'creative team' behind The Blair Witch Project and its hugely successful internet campaign) have had at least three sequels in the planning.  They wisely skipped any real connection with the way too quickly dumped on the market Book of Shadows (the executive producer credits they received on that film probably had more to do with copyright license than anything else, I have heard that they are as unimpressed with the final product as most of the critics and fans were) but are hard at work on the third.  The plans for the next two sequels are contained with the mythology of the first film (Book of Shadows took place in 'the real world').  The story of Rustin Parr, the child serial killer, may have a movie of his own and I understand that story of the genesis of the actual witch haunting in and off itself is planned as well.  But, as with any creative project, these can morph and change in innumerable ways, both good and bad.  I just hope they don't step outside of the mythology again.  I think that if they do the movie is bound to fail.

I loved The Blair Witch Project more for the depth and, for the most part, original mythology it contained.  I felt that more than enough material was there for several movies to safely explore without becoming repetitive "We're lost in the woods with creepy noises and not much else" movies.  I am still eager for more, even though the w.o.m. on Book of Shadows kept me out of the theater and waiting for its video release.  Same with Hannibal, but my wife is dragging me to it.

So it goes.

I thought the original Blair Witch was interesting precisely because of all the mythology they left unsaid.  It was obvious there was more going on than they put in the film, which lent it an air of mystery.  Probably why the ending creeped so many people out, because they didn't know exactly what was going on.

I don't think they should run with the whole "documentary" idea too much more.  That was more of a gimmick than anything else.

Sew buttons.

I got confused when I saw the thread and even moreso with the postings until I saw the dates. Funny, a guest named Mofo Rising posted in 2001. I wonder who that could be.

Probably some random Internet Troll.  He probably has nothing to do with that guy we know, what's his name.  Smile

Well Blair Witch 3 never happened, but we've had plenty of movies shot with camcorders so big lost.

We live in quite an interesting age. You can tell someone's sexual orientation and level of education from just their interests.

They were supposed to do a Blair Witch 3, but after the second one spent years as the number one grossing movie of all time and after all the Academy Awards said film took home (it won Best Picture twice!), the creators felt they couldn't top it and just threw themselves off buildings instead.   TeddyR

reading this thread about a decade later it is kind of surprising the Filmmakers behind the BWP never really cashed in on their fame and made a lot more films.
