I have no idea if I've heard any of those songs so I voted "none."  Pop music just goes in one of my ears and out the other.  Except for "Friday" by Rebecca Black.  I've come around to believing that it's a work of inspired inanity, the musical equivalent of Ed Wood.

"Yesterday was Thursday, Thursday
Today it is Friday, Friday
We, we, we so excited
We so excited!"

I am pretty update with music and I'm pretty willing to listen to almost any song out there at least once.  Only one song recently has ever ticked me off with how bad it was The Big Bang by Rock Mafia.  The voice on the singer and the fact the music can't distract me is horrible.

For those of you thinking they aren't missing anything, give F**k You at shot.  It's shockingly extremely catchy and pretty fun.  I even love the music video.

Small | Large

Of course you'll have to go the site of course for the song.

I'm fairly familiar with all these songs.  I voted for most of em.  I tend to stay pretty current on today's music.  A lot of it, I tend to hear when I go out to various clubs/bars and whatnot.  Plus, I'm fairly young so I'm kinda in that 'demographic', so to speak.  Plus, I'm a big fan of "Weird Al", and he tends to parody a lot of the current music, so when I hear one of his parodies, I tend to check out the original to familiarize myself with it.

I've only heard the Cee-Lo Green, Bruno Mars, and Adele songs.  I like the F-You tune.

I've heard of a few of the artists but don't know any of the songs.  Can't say I'm sorry about that either.

Never heard of any of these songs.  Don't think I have to, to know that they suck.

None (although, I may have heard a couple of them by accident and just didn't realize it).  My iPod consists of about 90% 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s music and only about 10% older or newer than those 4 decades.

As soon as I saw the subject headline, I knew what my answer would be. "No." As I stopped listening to popular music on the radio sometime back in the '70's. So, I was somewhat surprised I had actually heard one of the songs in the poll Kathy Perry's "Firework." Though it'll never get on my list of favorite songs.

That Cee-Lo Green song doesn't suck.  Give it a listen. Wink

True. It might be the only good song on that list.

I think most will agree though, that "mainstream" music has declined greatly in quality over the last two decades. There's no real substance or genuine musical talent within most of it, nearly all of it is over-produced using the same formulas and no new genres/styles have been created that dominate the charts or influence other artists. If you sell millions of records these days, it's basically the rubber-stamp to say that you suck for sure.

I think pop music is in a major funk now.  A lot of electronic dancy type tunes.   Few years back I could pick out a song or two that I like but now its just painful.  Especially with artists like Kei$ha.
