In 1998, Paramount Studios and Touchstone Pictures went head to head that year with two movies about Earth being hit by galactic, humongous size space junk.  Paramount brought out Deep Impact and Touchstone brought Armageddon.  Both had big names involved (Steven Spielberg was executive producer for Deep Impact, while Armageddon had Michael Bay directing with Jerry Bruckheimer producing) and both had big named actors in it.

Deep Impact struck better with the critics, but the real victor was Armageddon, due to its success in the box office, winning a couple of awards and its nominations (amusingly, it was nominated for 7 Razzies and won for Worst Actor for Bruce Willis), and being far more remembered.

However, just because you are more remembered or got more money in the end doesn't mean you are the best in the public's eye.  As such, I turned to my fellow friends and other members of the site, between Deep Impact and Armageddon, what was the between movie?  Doesn't even matter if didn't like either two, what one do you think was the better than the other?

(Sorry, the trailers wouldn't work unless you went to the site itself)

We live in quite an interesting age. You can tell someone's sexual orientation and level of education from just their interests.

I havent' seen either one in years but I remember liking "Deep Impact" better than "Armageddon." Neither film was great, but "Armageddon" just went totally beyond ridiculous. It was around this time that I realized Michael Bay was the Antichrist.  TeddyR

Of course, in the "Giant Space Junk Hitting Earth" sub-genre, neither film beats 1979's cheese-tastic classic "Meteor" with Sean Connery and Natalie Wood.  TeddyR

Deep Impact was pretty good, of course I'm a sucker for anything with Téa Leoni in it   TeddyR  It had a bit of drama, and I seem to remember the special effects being cool.

Armageddon, good grief...I though I was watching an episode of the World Wrestling Federation except with spaceships.

I didn't see Deep Impact because it looked  serious, but not in the good, cheesy 70's disaster movie way, if that makes any sense. I did see Armageddon, and I didn't mind it. I even thought some parts were fun. It's probably Bay's best movie, for what its worth.
