I know that this is most likely a really dumb question, but I just gotta ask it.

For me, I personally approve of both formats. With DVD's, the quality is better and the special features, even if just a trailer, are pretty awesome. With VHS, I find that especially with older movies from the 80's, the grainy quality gives the film a warm nostalgic charm that makes one reminisce of the old video rental glory days.

Which do you like?

I'm on board with the DVD format. However, I will admit to pining a bit for the rental store glory days. I remember the days when, if you didn't have a credit card, some places would allow a deposit check. My how times have changed.

DVD or blu-ray.  I haven't even owned a VHS player for about 10 years.

VHS.
One simple reason....I have a vhs tapes from the early 80's....most dvd's don't have that longevity.

I prefer DVD but I like watching VHS, too.  VHS has a certain charm at this point, especially when watching a bad flick.

doesn't really matter to me, pluses and minuses for each.  On a side note, if you like vhs but must have dvd you can simple buy those cheap movie sets that are basically vhs dubs.

I'm pretty much all DVD now. I got rid of what little was left of my VHS collection at a yard sale last year, with the exception of my Star Wars Special Edition box set, which I hung onto cuz I think it's cool.  TeddyR

both as I own a  VCR and DVD player, but I prefer  on DVD because the movies I watch on DVD do not go down in quality each time I watch them.

I do perfer DVD's because of the extras and it's easier to jump to parts of the movie I like. Sometimes I just want to see a particular scene.

VHS will always hold a certain sentimental appeal, and I've still got a VCR, though I haven't used it in a long time.  To me it's just technology.  DVD has better picture quality, I don't have to get the heads cleaned when it starts eating my movies, and the collection takes up far less space.

I should clarify this by saying that I'm a cheap bastard and I buy a lot of dollar-store DVDs, many of which appear to have duped off of old VHS tapes anyway. So it's kinda like having both the warm and fuzzy retro feel of VHS and the convenience of DVD at the same time.  TeddyR

I would say both as I still have plenty of VHS tapes. I gotta admit that I also still have and use my RCA Laserdisc player. Heck, I still have my Sony Betamax hooked up in my media room. It still flashes 12:00  Buggedout
