Does your boss have a good sense of humor?  My company has two owners and I can say just about anything to them (and vice versa) no matter how raunchy or politically incorrect and we all get a good laugh out of it.  For instance,  just a few minutes ago, I sent an e-mail to one of the owners reminding him of several things I sent to him for his review several times, but have not received his comments yet.  I started my e-mail with "At the risk of p**sing you off," and I attached all the files he needs to read.  Here is his response:

"f**k YOU, JOE! Do you always have to be right? f**k FACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Moments later, my other boss chimed in with:

"Congratulations . . . You are a DOUCHE BAG!"

It's great to feel the love at work!

Yeah, I've had two different bosses in the past year and I got on/get on with them great. Two women, one was just a few years older than me and the boss I have now is about twenty years older but they're more like friends and I can pretty much say anything I want. I've found that those types of employer/employee relationships don't effect the work done. Morale is better and there's more respect when it matters.

It's great when we go on business trips together.  We usually go out to dinner, then continue drinking late into the evening.  The conversation gets very raunchy and we laugh a lot.  It's a good way to unwind from a stressful day in the office.

My boss has a very expansive sense of humor, but working in a prison, a person kinda has to.

One day an Inmate that is deaf walked by and my boss asked "How does a deaf person end up in prison? It just doesn't seem right"

So I looked the guy up on the computer and said "Ugh, he's in for messing with kids. . "

My boss says "I guess he didn't hear them say STOP".

I've had other bosses that have even more sick sense of humors

Is it bad that I found that really funny?

Yes.  You are now on the "watch list."

My last Boss was dragged to court seven times by disgruntled employees. And seven times the company had to pay amends.
He probably thinks its funny to fire people while they are on sick leave. So much for his humor.

Yes.  Firing someone who is sick, pregnant or whatever is very dangerous even if you have good reasons for firing them.  About 7 years ago we interviewed a young woman for a management position that would require some overnight travel.  Our Human Resources person called her a day or two after the interview to offer her the job.  The woman immediately accepted over the phone, then told the HR person she was pregnant and her doctor told her not to fly.  Probably a good reason to rescind the offer since we told her the position required travel and she only told us she couldn't AFTER we offered her the job.  But we figured we'd be facing legal action so we went ahead and hired her.  She ended up not liking the job and she quit within a month or two, which was good for everyone involved.

Being as I used to walk into work at 8:00 am plastered drunk on a daily basis...I'd say my boss MUST have a good sense of humor.
