This was shown on the MGM channel early this morning and I hadn't seen it since its' first release so I watched it again. Hard to believe that John Schlesinger would be able to tackle a horror film and do it well but he did.

Based on the novel The Religion by Nicholas Conde, the story involves a widower psychologist played by Martin Sheen ~ the reason for his being a widower is shown in graphic detail  Buggedout Buggedout ~ and he gets involved with the doings of a ritual cult in New York, as does his innocent son, whose interest in the cult makes him a target for their evil doings.

Quite gory, very scary and that ending: YIKES!  Buggedout Buggedout

I find I'm so excited that I can barely sit still or hold a thought in my head. I think it's the excitement only a free man can feel. A free man at a start of a long journey whose conclusion is uncertain. I hope I can make it across the border. I hope to see my friend and shake his hand. I hope the Pacific is as blue as it has been in my dreams. I hope.

I'm positive I saw this around the time it was released on video, but I remember nothing about the movie. I'll definately pick it up as soon as I get the chance thanx to Trevor's comments.
Edit: I'm watching it right now on the MGM channel.  Smile
