Nolan and Bay are about the same, I don't know about Cuaron.
I wouldn't put the two in the same boat. Even if you don't like Nolan, you can say at least he is trying to make something work or make a movie. He is trying to make something serious or intelligent. There's some form of substance in there.
With Michael Bay, there's nothing to his films. They are just flashy, dumbass, juvenile, offensive at some points, trainwrecks of films.
Would you rather have the poser who is trying to be smart and deep or the drunk, pyromaniac fratboy direct a Twilight Zone film?
