Easy:
BLINDED BY THE LIGHT- Manfred Mann (B. Springsteen)
DAYDREAM BELIEVER- The Monkees (N. Diamond)
ONE- Three Dog Night (H. Nilsson)
THE SHOW MUST GO ON- Three Dog Night (L. Sayer)
ELI'S COMING- Three Dog Night (L. Nyro)

I'm talikng about songs that were hits for the performer, but were written by someone else, 4-X, I WRITE THE SONGS, by Barry Manilow; he didn't write that one.

Next: 5 songs involving a breed of bird in the title (chicken, crow, parakeet, etc.)

If it's true what they say, that GOD created us in His image, then why should we not love creating, and why should we not continue to do so, as carefully and ethically as we can, on whatever scale we're capable of?

The choice is simple; refuse to create, and refuse to grow, or build, with care and love.

A little tougher, but I've got it licked:

"Frank's Wild Years" (Tom Waits), song is on Swordfishtrombones
"Almost Blue" (Elvis Costello), song is on Imperial Bedroom
"The Song Remains the Same (Led Zeppelin), song is on Houses of the Holy
"Sheer Heart Attack" (Queen), song is on News of the World
"If You Want Blood, You've Got It" (AC/DC) song is on Highway to Hell

They were all songs written by the artist in parentheses, and performed as big hits by the artist/group after the hyphen.

I was thinking of "Houses of the Holy" a LED ZEP title song that's on Physical Graffiti.  There's also THE DOORS "Waiting for the Sun" which is on Morrison Hotel/Hard Rock Cafe...

Gimme five records that went to #1 but never should have made it...  TeddyR

Got it-but what I was looking for was someone who was known as a singer / songwriter, who had a hit with a song he / she didn't personally write.

Well, I'm assuming you want songs where the word was actually screamed (or at least yelled), not sung, yes? Otherwise it would be too easy.

"Rain King" - Counting Crows (screams "yeah!" at the end of the song)
"Shout" - The Isley Brothers ("yeah yeah!" "yeah yeah!" is screamed by some random band member)
"I Put a Spell on You" - Screamin' Jay Hawkins (screams "Whoa Yeah!" just before the sax solo)
"I'm Just a Bill" - Schoolhouse Rock (when the bill get signed into law, the bill shouts "Oh Yeah!")
"Baba O'Riley" - The Who (Daltrey's iconic scream of "yeah" at the end of middle synth part)
