Last of the Mohicans, Gladiator, The Illusionist, Suspiria, The Mission, Star Wars Ep. IV, 300, The Pink Panther and The Road for me.

My favorites are: Attack the Block, Paprika, Tron Legacy, Atlantis: The Lost Empire, Perfect Blue, Raiders of the Lost Ark, any Star Wars film, The Adventures of Tintin, Rango, and Cool World (Licensed but still good).

virtually anything by Dave Grusin and Lalo Schifrin

3 DAYS OF THE CONDOR, and SUDDEN IMPACT probably being my fav from each

a poor movie can't be saved by a great soundtrack, but a good one can be transformed into a very good one (imo)

Ennio Morricone's work for Sergio Leone.
O BROTHER WHERE ART THOU is one that I immediately bought the soundtrack for after I saw it. It might have even been the same day.
Very few people will agree with me, but NAKED LUNCH (Ornette Coleman soloing over a Howard Shore score) is another one that I just had to buy after seeing the film.

I would have to put Equilibrium in this list. Specifically the moment where Christian Bale hears music for the first time (Beethoven). Brilliant.

There are some movies that I think simply would not work without their musical score.  The musical score fits so perfectly that it becomes almost the most important part of the film.

The Thing
RoboCop
Conan the Barbarian
Ladyhawke

And then there are movies that just have a damn good score.

it was mentioned in the OP as well... Smile

forgot about Roy Ayers fantastic score to COFFY. had this soundtrack for years and still never seen the film.

some more dave grusin scores I really like: YAKUZA, FABULOUS BAKER BOYS, THE FIRM, TOOTSIE. such a versatile composer/musician, can go from haunting incidental music to funky soul/jazz , love all his stuff tbh

and the score to Cronenberg's THE BROOD is some of the creepiest music I've heard. sadly never been released as an album  Bluesad
