After I completed my review of The Final Sacrifice, I dropped him an email via his website, not knowing if he would reply or not. To my surprise, he did and thanked me for the email ~ he mentioned that he hadn't thought of the film in years nor had he seen the MST3K version until Robert Skeet brought it to his attention. He also said he found that the film had now taken on a life of its' own.  Smile

Thank you, Tjardus!  Thumbup

Funny!  I bet he takes jokes about the film on the chin and doesn't mind.  Same as the guy that played Zapp Rowsdower (can't remember his name) but in an interview he said he enjoyed the ribbing the film has gotten and I think he said he saw, and liked, the MST3K version.  I haven't heard anything from the Zapp Rowsdower Fanclub President, er, kid who played Troy McGregor.

Bruce J. Mitchell. The DVD I have has an interview with him and he said that he liked making the film and he enjoyed doing his own stunts. He also said the cast had to bring their own lunches as they weren't fed. Buggedout

TeddyR Christian Malcolm was in Band Of Brothers amongst other things.

One thing I learned from Tjardus is that this film was made in 1988. That I didn't know.

This is what I wrote to him:

Dear Mr Greidanus

I trust this email finds you well.

After hearing many things about The Final Sacrifice and seeing many riffed clips of it on YouTube, I have finally managed to watch it in its' entirety via the MST3K version currently available via Shout Factory.
To say I was pleasantly surprised on my first viewing of it is to put it mildly and after several viewings, I was able to tune out the riffing of Mike Nelson and the 'bots and enjoy what is essentially a student film but in the end, a technically well made production which I would like to see re-released as a standalone DVD without the intrusive MST3K riffing.

To take into account all that has been said about the film, I can truly say that I enjoyed it - so much so in fact that I wrote a detailed review of it for the website www.badmovies.org - and I would like to thank you for making it.

Warm South African greetings

Trevor

And his reply was:

Hi Trevor,

Thank you for your kind email.

I’ve never seen the MST3K version.  The film had faded from my memory until a few years ago when my old music composer (who scored it) brought my attention to it.  It had taken on a life of it’s own.  Never thought it would be seen by that many people when I made it back in ‘88 (although I’d rather be remembered for other things).  Being my first feature, it was the school of hard knocks for me.

I’ve been in LA for many years now and thankfully I am still able to make a living in this tough business.  Just finished another feature called A New York Heartbeat.  The website will be up soon and you can find it on Facebook.

Cheers.

T

As I said, a nice guy.  Cheers

That's pretty cool of him!

I got curious and looked him up on imdb; it seems he's moved from feature films and does those movie "on the set" documentaries that turn up on the dvds or the E! channel.  Cheers
