Gameshows have a surprisingly rich history. First, on the radio then on TV. How rich? Here are 28 men who have hosted gameshows.

How many do you remember? And how many more can you name?

I remember 17. Mostly because I watched too damn much Game Show Network for a couple of years before my cable replaced it with a different channel.  TeddyR

I remember almost all of them.  I thought Bob Barker was most remembered for Truth Or Consequences..?
Also, Art James was on The Who, What Or Where Game as well as Blank Check and The Magnificent Marble Machine.
I can think of others, I'm sure.

I liked the host of Family Feud...the one after Dawson.  Combs, I think his name was? He ended up committing suicide. Bluesad

Ray Combs hosted FF after Dawson.  He committed suicide on 6/2/96.  He was only 40.  RIP.

He was really quite funny.  I remember him appearing in Overboard.

That's him.

I couldn't remember if it was Ray or Roy.  Used to watch it every night as a kid, sandwiched between Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune.

Family Feud was never the same without Richard Dawson.

Drew Carey is terrible as the host of The Price is Right.

Match Game and The Gong Show are my all-time favorites.

I remember 14 of them.  Can't picture some of them in my head, but those names are really familiar.  There didn't used to be a heck of a lot else to watch sometimes when I was a kid.

I remember Alex Trebeck from Jeopardy and Bert Convy from Match Game.  I'm sure I've seen many, many episodes of the Hollywood Squares, but Peter Marshall is just a black hole in my mind.

Continuing from before, here are 28 trivia facts about the 28 gameshow hosts previously mentioned. See if you can match the fact with the host. Degree of difficulty runs from what I think is the easy to the hard.

But first, a couple of title corrections. "High Rollers" is actually "The New High Rollers" and "Truth or Consequences" is really "The New Truth or Consequences."

01. Hosted a popular NYE's show from Times Square in NYC,
02. One of five brothers who were in show business.
03. Worked on a popular TV sitcom with Tim Allen.
04. Was the voice of the cartoon Superman.
05. Was the long running announcer for the L.A. Dodgers.
06. Claimed he once worked for the C.I.A.
07. Served in the army in Vietnam.
08. Had a hit record with "Deck of Cards."
09. First credited film appearance was in a film directed by Roger Corman.
10. Received hate mail, after he kissed a black woman during the show.
11. For the Canadians out there. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba,  Canada.
12. Has an auditorium named after him in the town named for his radio show.
13. His older sister was actress Joanne Dru.
14. Graduated from Notre Dame University with a degree in sociology.
15. Could be heard, if not seen, in the Walt Disney World attraction Sounds Dangerous.
16. Was married to actress Betty White.
17. Had the longest running carer on network commercial TV till surpassed by another gameshow host.
18. His brother and brother-in-law were also gameshow hosts.
19. His last film appearance was in the Disney film "The Strongest Man in the World."
20. Opened for Diana Ross in Las Vegas.
21. Made his theatrical film debut in 1996 at the age of 72.
22. Holds the current record for gameshows hosted at 24.
23. Was once Dolly Parton's agent.
24. Performed on Broadway in "Bye, Bye Birdie."
25. Appeared on "Laugh-in." You don't say.
26. Speaks six languages.
27. Was an usher at the wedding of one of President Nixon's daughters.
28. Was once a sales rep for Pillsbury, but he couldn't make enough dough.

Next time: the answers.
