Lagomorphs: menace or underutilized resource?

« Reply #15 on: May 26, 2012, 07:59:07 AM »

A number of these aren't true robots even though they are robotic in appearance. Still I recognized around 50 of these. Surprised they didn't have Data in there.

Or Mechagodzilla. I guess it was too scary to draw... Or the artist could have fit only its feet in the picture.

OOOHHHH MY GOD THIS IS THE MOST AWESOME THING EVER!!!!!

I starting jittering like an idiot when I spotted the Mark 13, that's great. The Bill and Ted bots, Johnny 5, the saucers from Batteries Not Included, and Bobou! Wow, I could rattle these off for hours, this made my day! TeddyR

Noticed 3 dog-like robots, the only one I recognize is K-9 from Doctor Who, but I don't see DynoMutt.

They have one of the butler bots from Woody Allen's Sleeper, but no maid bot from Ritchie Rich.

I would've liked to see Rover & Cori, from the Woner Woman episode IRAC Is Missing.

Geez, this is fantastic!  Whoever drew this should get a medal.

I counted 44-45 that I can identify immediately.  Many of them were complete blanks, though, which is either depressing or a relief.  It's a relief that I only know 45 out of over 180 characters because it mean that haven't spent my entire life in front of a TV.  It's depressing because I don't know them!!!

The artist really knows his British scifi, too.  He's got both versions of Marvin, from the TV and film versions of Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy.  He's also got the little red robot NoNo from the French/Japanese cartoon Ulysses 31; by some weird coincidence my brother got the box set this afternoon.  He even has what I think is Kamelion, a shapeshifting android from the Peter Davison era of Dr Who.

Wonderfully, he's got 7 Zark 7 from Battle of the Planets, and Metal Mickey!!!

I really smiled when I saw Nono from Ulysses, Marvin from Hitchhiker's Guide, the moon robot from Wallace & Gromit: A Grand Day Out Grounder from Sonic, and Alpha 5 from Power Rangers! And yeah, it's cool to see all the Doctor Who stuff, particularly both classic and modern types of Cyberman.

Wall-E is near the bottom, slightly to the left of the middle, by the way.

Wall-E is kinda hard to spot, because they only show his face, & there are several other robots with identical faces.

This amazing artwork was created by Richard Sargent, if I got that name right. I'll try to identify them, but this one will be quite a challenge.

Also, Wall-E can be spotted in between the Cylon, K-9, T-Bob, Bad Robot, Chum, and the robot from the Green Cross adverts.

That was my attempt. I got all these from watching tons of cartoons as a kid, being forced to watch cartoons with my youthful relatives, and being a B-Movie fan. That photo made my head hurt, and I really want to see if I'm actually right with these. Is there some sort of list or anything?

Yup! I loved Bubo, and I vaguely remember that episode. I think they called the mouse the "Mouse-ile"?

I didn't count, but I must say this: The Tin Man is not a robot nor in any way mechanical. That may not be a criterion for the drawing, but it seems implied. There. I said it and proved that I'm a dork.  TongueOut

I felt the same way about the Evil Bill & Ted Bots.

I was thinking about this for Ro-Man.  He may be cybernetic, but I don't think he's a full on robot.

Same for the Cybermen, Dalek, and Tin Man. And the red one in front of SPOT and GIR is a vacuum cleaner called "Henry". Which isn't even slightly related to a robot.

Also, just remembered the robot from "Mother Riley Meets the Vampire"'s name (I just called it "Van Hoosen's Robot" in my list, because I forgot his name). It's "Mark 1".
