Here's a front cover if you're interested.
Has anyone ever heard of this movie? I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned here before as it may very well be one of the most laughably bad movies of the past 13 years. I've seen some awful trash in my time but this film is something else. It has been called by a few the gay equivalent of The Room or Birdemic. I think it's fair to say though that this has lower production values than both those films if you thought that was possible.
Well the title is pretty self-explanatory, it is about a homosexual couple called Ben and Arthur who want to get married but can't because of the current laws in California. So they try to get married in Vermont instead. Ben however is already married to a woman and has been for 5 years, yet she's never noticed his relationship with Arthur, now what sense does that make? And Arthur has a religious fanatic brother who believes that all gays are evil. In one scene he even shoots a woman in a car and gets away with it. This thing seems to be shot on video rather than film, which just adds to the cheapness along with the bad acting, terrible dialogue and incredibly unrealistic (and somewhat unlikeable) characters. The music is a real hoot as well. It goes from a low-budget rendition of "The Entertainer" in the opening credits to some really heavy synth cues in dramatic moments, which sounds similar to the video game Manhunt or some John Carpenter movie. And in one scene this quickly changes to some fast-paced techno music! It feels so out-of-place it's actually hilarious.
This movie was pretty damn awful I have to say. The version I watched was a MST3K-style commentary with a gaming lobby riffing over. It is here if you want to see though the last 10 or 20 minutes are cut off so you don't see the (supposedly) horrible ending. If you would like to see though, I can provide a link.
