Sad news, Jim Kelly star of ENTER THE DRAGON, BLACK BELT JONES, TATTOO CONNECTION, and the Al Adamson classic DEATH DIMENSION dies at age 67. He also, later in life, became a professional tennis coach.

He was only 67?  Damn.

He had a few damn fun movies under his belt, but I always thought he deserved a bigger career.

When I met him at a comic convention in 2012, he was a truly nice guy and seemed healthy enough.  Such a thrill to meet him!  But now that I think of it, I noticed something a little odd.  He seemed to have a bit of difficulty writing messages and quotes on his photos.  At first I thought that perhaps he just had difficulty writing, or that his hand coordination was off because of the overseas flight, but maybe it was pointing to something with his health.  We may never know.  RIP, Mr. Kelly.

My son,Jed,always said when he was 8 years old."Why did Jim Kelly get killed" I told him that black people all got killed in movies because its a racist world. The first black hero in horror film was NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD(1968). I like John Saxon...but that shoulda been Jim or Bruce fighting Bolo.It was made for an American audiance,so Saxon was the hero.Jim Kellyb shoulda been around kicking ass.

R.I.P. Jim Kelly.  Bluesad

When I was a kid in the 70s, early 80s I thought he was the coolest.
