Rhett Miller singing Longer Than You've Been Alive at World Cafe Live - 2/27/14

"I'm not crazy about songs that get self-referential.
Most of this stuff should be kept confidential.
But who even gives half a f**k anymore?
You should know the truth: it's both a blast and a bore.
Rock stars, we aren't such mythical creatures
Up there with presidents, Playmates and preachers.

Now you just do it 'cause it's what you do.
They throw underwear instead of money at you.
I've made a living out of shaking my ass
And if you offered me an office, I'd have to pass.
Our jobs are our jobs, and sometimes they suck
But I love what I do and I've had pretty good luck."

I dedicate this number to the one and only ROCK N' ROLL himself,  Rock Roll!

http://youtu.be/5haMVR5my-s
Rock Roll is nostalgic and amusing, but hardly ROCK n" ROLL.   TeddyR

I know he's not the real Rock Roll, because Fred had to fill in for him after Rock got an allergic reaction after eating a pickled dodo egg. Talk about a predicament  BounceGiggle  Cheers

I wear my pants like 4 or 5 times before I wash them again.

Yeah! That's right!  I'm a little bit dirty 3 or 4 days of the week!

Early Def Leppard (first 3 albums) where an amazing NWOBHM band. Unfortunately they turned into the most corporate losers who think that success is measured by album sales.

Hmm.
That song is definitely Rock n' Roll.  That video...???   Question   Maybe not so much.  Issued years after that live version of the song hit the top 20 in 1976... that video shows the boys' faces, meaning it's at least a few years later, looks early '80s to me anyway.  Also shows the cloying marketing of the band.  I... I... never mind

Video wasn't great.  I like the song though.
