Of all the Horror films, TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE (1974) is by far the best.
That's a BOLD statement, my friend.
I mean, better than the BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN or KING KONG?

I'm not disagreeing, mind you- I think it's the best horror film of the 70's, but all time? Man, that's hard to pick just one.
(But even in the 70's there was the EXORCIST and ..... (cof cof) -DON'T LOOK IN THE BASEMENT )

Are we talking HORROR or another topic?  I definitely would choose either KING KONG or BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN as more watchable... even ENDLESSLY WATCHABLE.

But... HORROR.  Those movies don't intimidate me.  TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE intimidates me.  It's still scary.  I've seen the cruel, the gross, the revolting, the disturbing, the painful, but TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE is the only film that was relentless.  It's like a trap that doesn't kill the mouse, only makes it suffer.   Bluesad
If a HORROR fan has not seen TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE, that fan does not yet know how great HORROR can be.

So you mean Horror with a capital H !
Yeah- I can't argue with that. It was the first-and only-horror movie to scare the living daylight out of me. My teeth were actually chattering.

THE EXORCIST is a masterpiece of HORROR, second only to TCM.

I'm impressed that you remember I don't particularly care for an outdoor table... oh, I mean: DON'T LOOK IN THE BASEMENT
I must have told you that I do have fond memories of watching that 40 / 45 years ago... on late night TV.
The crazy who pretends to be doctor crazy house is also the woman trapped by that kookoo in LARRY BUCHANAN's  "IT'S ALIVE"

I can spend a very enjoyable Saturday with a tub of popcorn and:

* The War of the Worlds (1953)
* The Blob (1958)
* The Incredible Shrinking Man (1957)
* Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956)
* Journey to the Center of the Earth (1959)

OR

* Any 5 Hammer Frankenstein and/or Dracula movies

These aren't the best movies ever made, but they make for some damn comfortable Saturday viewing.

I'll agree with ALL of those!  Cheers

Or...
. PLANET OF THE APES (1968)
. the DAY THE WORLD ENDED (1956)
. INVADERS FROM MARS (1953)
. EARTH VS THE FLYING SAUCERS (1956)

YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN (1974) is as good as nostalgia can possibly get.
if you like nostalgic films try to find "Zone troopers", a lovingly make tribute to the scifi of the 30's and 40's, when it was mostly pulp magazines and known now to true fhans as "The Gernsback era". It has bug eyes aliens, rockets with bell nozzles and rakish fins, ray guns and lots of dead nazis.
Nope.  I'd like to see ZONE TROOPERS, though.
YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN is an exercise in nostalgia by mocking all of those FRANKENSTEIN movies it's nostalgic for.  Perfection.

If you haven't seen Zone Troopers how can you say I'm wrong about it given that I've seen it?

I may be the only person who prefers Shemp over Curly.

Joe Besser was better on the ABBOT AND COSTELLO SHOW, dressed as  a little kid with a big lollipop- "I'll give you such a pinch!"
Joe DeVita was worthless. He didn't do anything He didn't like being hit.
Than wtf are you doing in the 3 Stooges? Larry ALWAYS took a hit. That was Larry's job. He didn't hit someone on purpose too much, but he got his s**t slapped and poked. And his hair pulled out.

Larry is very underrated. I always loved Larry.

But Moe is my favorite.

Larry is great. He has some of the best offhand comments.

Yeah, I had it disabled about 2008, I think.

I think the space bird in "the giant claw" was a better monster than the one in "Reptillicus".
