Uncomfortable question for people living outside america.

Ok I have a serious question here for the non americas on this board.

In american we've basically gone insane on the issue of sex offenders,  especially ones who violate children.  America has pretty much tossed the constitution out the window when it comes to sex offenders,  with some states effectively confining them past  their prison sentences in mental hospital-prisons basically for life,  stigmatizing sex offenders to a degree murderers aren't, making it impossible for them to find employment,  etc.

Sex crimes,   even those against children, can't be just an american thing. So I'm curious as to how people in civilized western nations that haven't lost their minds deal with sex offenders.  If you are a non american i'd like to know how your country handles sex offenders dees and especially those that molest children.
