Ok, brother Trevor describes himself as a film activist. What exactly does a film activist do? Does he march around carrying a sign advocating film rights?
Yes, in fact I do.
Every time I speak about Africa's oldest film industry (started in 1895) and its' rich history and legacy, I pay tribute to the pioneers of SA cinema and those that followed them. I'm known as someone who promotes our film industry to all and I hate it when somebody looks down on our industry or isn't 100% aware of the history.
I have also written a book on the SA film history entitled Riding The High Wind.
My work is my life: without my job as an archivist and activist, I literally am nothing.
