I remember our cousin got a record or two from one of those several for cents "clubs" for LP collectors.  About 1970, living in Spring Lake, NJ, she definitely got that original Jesus Christ Superstar album.   The album was a bit scandalous.   Later, my sister got a copy of the Broadway cast album.  I listened to that a lot back then (50 years). 
The original is a classic; it's like In The Court Of The Crimson King... essential.
