I read a rumour today that Disney is considering a move to buy up DC.

Bad idea although I don't know if Disney could take Constantine down a worse path than DC has since Hellblazer was scrapped. Many more acquisitions and somebody's going to start using the m-word about Disney.

They do seem to be buying up anyone who can successfully compete with them in the entertainment area.

I wonder what they could possibly want with DC then?  BounceGiggle

I hope its not true.   I don't want Disney owning everything fiction. Which they are dangerously close to doing.  Also you have two very different comic universes, that probably don't really mix well together.

There's also a lot of rumors right now, that if the next DC big event is a failure, then DC Comics' parent company is going to close down the publishing branch and effectively kill DC comics.  Which if that happens, might mean Disney would have reason to close down Marvel comics-because there's more money to be made in the toys, movies, tv, etc.

I'm really hoping its just a crossover their teasing and the rest is just fear mongering.

There's been tons of rumors over the decades about Marve4l buying DC or DC buying marvel whenever one company shows the slightest bit of weakness in the market.

A former Marvel Editor in Chief has pointed out that it would be a really bad idea because if you put Marvel and DC under the same roof, you suddenly have ... I think he said around 70% of the comic market controlled by one company.  That's the sort of thing that draws attention to anti-monopoly laws and NOBODY wants the government messing with their buisness.
