I've been looking to play some old computer games recently, however, I am having an issue with remembering some of the old DOS commands and I've been unable to find a solution to the problem I am finding with trying to run certain files. I can get to the directory I need and then when I go to get the game to run, I am having issues with getting it t run long file names.

Anyway, if anyone knows anything about DOS I'll put up some more details.

You probably need  VFAT LFN driver if it's a really old program that something prior to Win 95 you might with to setup a DOS box or a Win 3.1 box.

For old games, you can probably try DOSBox.

What I remember doing was place quotation marks around long directory names instead of typing progra~1 or something like that. It might work with running programs.

I found some patches for DOSBox that allows for long file names, but I haven't tried them:

Also, the command "dir /x" will give you the short path name for directories.  That might be what is getting you.
