Based on comments from a couple of members, I thought maybe we should have a separate weight loss topic.

I've been seriously overweight a couple of times in my life and I've dieted back down to a healthy weight. Right now I've maintained my target of 154 pounds for a couple of years. I've become kind of anal about watching calories and exercising regularly. Not only am I healthier, but it's improved my outlook on life.

I support anyone trying to lose weight. American culture encourages obesity, making it an uphill battle for us.

The Whole30 diet has been a gamechanger for me.  I'm down to 235, from 249 on the first of June.
The food is good, you can eat as much of it as you want, and still drop weight!

Do they pay you a commission?  Wink

Seriously, I'm glad that plan works for you. Stick with it. I just went with counting calories and exercise. I think it's important to keep eating whatever you like---just eat less of it, and make better choices.

the key for me was changing my lifestyle of cooking AND eating. i lost 68 pounds 30 years ago, put back most f it, then decided that i needed to talk to a dietician i admired. she taught me that how you cook, and portioning, and moderation are the keys to maintaining a healthy weight forever. i've been resting comfortably between 120-130 pounds since, except for after my surgery, but that got normal pretty fast, once i could eat normally again. 5'1" and almost 59 year old female, ftr. * and i am now an unlicensed dietician because of my own journey*

never had a weight problem in my life (in fact I found it impossible to put on weight) until 10 years ago, when I quit drinking alcohol and almost overnight I developed a very noticable beer belly... what the ???

I've worked it all off now. in 2017 I lost nearly 5 stone. apart from all the usual do's and dont's of diet + excercise, the thing that I believe helped me most was forcing myself not to eat a single thing outside of breakfast lunch and dinner... it's the mindless snacking which was making me fat
