The sleep of reasoner breeds monsters. (sic)

Been a nice quiet day.

Too snowy and cold to drive my youngest to the country so she could ride the long-faced demons she's so fond of around the barn, so just kept in today, and took her up to the attic where we opened an ancient sealed-up portal to another dimension a container of old dresses of mine from back in the day, which was fun. (Maybe it's just me but I don't see fashion has changed as radically in this century as it did in, say, the final twenty-four years of the last century.) Going to have a roaring fire tonight and tell stories, maybe try out this 1800s popcorn popper we have that you actually hold over the fire itself. I'll keep the extinguisher handy, if we do.

Life is good.

Occurred to me today when it came on the radio that whoever his father was, Billie Jean's son would be in his forties now.

Within an hour I should be on my way home, or possibly even home already and not back at work until Monday. I love 4 day weekends.

I heard something I'd never heard before in my life, that in the early days of the Soviet Union it was proposed that every worker would receive two days off per week, the first weekend ever enshrined in law, yet the same proposal would have added two days to the week, create a nine-day week, meaning in effect people would  have worked seven straight days to get two off, instead of working five days. The idea was ultimately rejected as too unpatriotic since it suggested workers who required time off did not relish their jobs in the Socialist utopia.

Those twerps who like to block roads as if it changes any minds; I wonder how they would react if they found out the hard way, that they'd just blocked a fleet one their way to a lowrider convention...

Tonight, even as I was telling my tearful youngest, "Aw, honey, it's OK, you didn't know, really, it's all right..." a part of my brain was screaming: "SHE BLEACHED MY $200.00 BLACK SILK BLOUSE???!!!"

I see the US wants to station nuclear weapons in the UK again. I remember the protests against them and the US in general back in the 80s and the whole Greenam  Common protest camp. I wonder if all those things will return?

Trying a pineapple & raspberry cider. The initial taste is fine, but the aftertaste not so much.
