Also antique junk. Not worth anything- not gonna be on the Antique Roadshow anytime soon. Radios are my favorites. I got five! 2 of them still work!

Oh, I have an obsession, but I wouldn't call it a hobby. Almost more of a quest, often something of a torment.

Collecting movies on physical media. I don't think it is a hobby though? its just something I like to do.

On a sidenote, I have never met a person who collected stamps or coins. I do know lots of people who collect the toys from Kinder Eggs. It was a popular thing to do in the 2000s, but it still seems to be a very popular thing to do now.

I won't say this was obsessive but in the 1980s I collected everything I could lay my hands on about Princess Diana: I had about five boxes of photos and clippings on her as well as quite a few books.

I still buy my music on CD - been collecting since 1991, I have around 1200 of 'em last I checked. 99 percent of 'em are hard rock, metal, and / or punk rock from the 70s and '80s, with a handful of 90s and 2000s in the mix.

I know CDs are a slowly dying format and all the hip kiddies are going back to vinyl, but I'm too old and set in my ways to change formats now.  TeddyR

I sold my vinyl about 25 years ago, but I still have at least 100 records and piles of 45s.   I must have 500 or more CDs (just got a MARTY ROBBINS CD yesterday).   I collected in many areas, but most is gone now.  I too have a lot of books and piles of magazines!  I still have a lot of Halloween which I have accumulated for decades.

I bought a Sun Ra CD the other day. I still buy mp3s, too, which is probably even rarer than CDs! I have a streaming music subscription but I don't want to lose anything. I suppose I'm obsessive in making different playlists.

Did I mention toys?  I still have two old robots, but all the battery ops and space toys are gone, G.I. Joe,  Barbies, Monster toys!  I still have a Clint Toys Halloween Frankenstein bucket... a shattered jagged edged in pieces one sold this year on eBay for $400!  It also was interesting to see stuff I'd sold sell on eBay for twice as much... and more!  I sold at a few shows in the late '80s... including a Postcard show!

Ha! Here's one very similar to mine that just sold at eBay for $1700:

I didn’t think I had an obsessive hobby, but I think do - houses!  Though we have been looking for a new place with wooded acres for the last 2 year, I have obsessively looked at house listings for about 10 years now.  If there’s an open house, I go.  A historic house tour, I’m there.  I love movies that feature old ornate houses and hotels.  Houses seem to absorb the history of what has happened in and around them and play it back for you.  Sometimes those stories suck but other times they’re overflowing with so much rich history it’s like you can never be bored if you lived there.   It absolutely horrifies me when I see these charming old homes “upgraded” to placate modern tastes.  Keep that crap in the mass-produced new houses you guys build in these ant-farm communities for the bland basic vanilla soccer moms shuffling through time like brain-dead zombies.  Wood wasn’t meant to be grey – stop that garbage.  If your favorite colors are white and beige, see a doctor, get a hobby, watch an old movie – something is wrong with you.  If you have bright white LED lights, they’re slowly killing you and everything around you with the despair that they emit – get the warm white or amber ones, they’re at least trying.

I’ve actually thought about getting into real estate to compile listings for historic homes, or homes built around interesting or historic places and to connect people with restorers, decorators, landscapers, etc. that will help keep the houses more true to their period, or at least add new charm to them.  But that idea just seems so much bigger than me.

Yeah other than that, I collect plants, crafting materials, and Garbage Pail Kid stuff.  Not really as obsessed with those things though.

p.s. so sorry if you happen to be someone that lives in a grey and white house with bright white LED lights and love it.  No offense meant.  Just something I’m weirdly passionate about.
