Yeah. Magbender Fassneto was generally the highlight of the films in which he appeared - both the performance and the treatment of the character. The one scene per movie where Quicksilver gets to do his thing was always enjoyable as well.
I'm a harsher critic than most when it comes to the X-movies. Huge lifelong fan of the comics, and there's so little that the movies adapt faithfully, besides Magneto and Quicksilver. I realize most viewers don't care as much about the source material, or are more forgiving. I took a (first?) date to see WOLVERINE: X-MEN ORIGINS when it was in the theaters and felt like I had to apologize to her when the movie ended as I thought it was one of the worst movies I'd seen in years (even w/ a perfectly cast Liev Schreiber). She didn't understand what the issue was. She was just happy to see Gambit for a few minutes.
Naturally the relationship didn't last.
