Bullshot! Its a thirtys period comedy. I think it stars the guy who played the dad in Mary Poppins. Any of our U.K. friends remember this?
I also think Neil Innes did the title song.
The plot is a parody of the old style thrillers, with the bold, if somewhat dim hero, saveing the polly purebread heroine from the evil...sorry, E-vil! clutches of the nefarious German count...whatshisname.

Dude, I just saw four listings on eBay. (But make sure that you can play anything you bid on! Some listings are for PAL format.)

Ahh, me thinks you refer to Bullshot Crummond, a knee-slapper send-up of the Bulldog Drummond mysteries of the 1930s.  Intentionally cheesey sets, hideous special effect (a model airplane on a string is swung around behind a screen to simulate a plane crash), and numerous multiple-role acting (six, count em SIX characters by a single performer--check out when Salvatore Scalicio meets with Baron Von Brunno, the same actor flying back and forth behind backdrops to argue with himself), this is one of the funniest things I have ever seen.  Numerous Websites for this one, just look for it on Google.

I have an EP copy I pick up at Wal-Mart a few years ago during one of those budget VHS tape sales they used to have. I got it, "The Long Good Friday", "The Third Man", "Horror Express", and I think "Barbarosa" for about $3 each.

A fun flick spoofing the old Bulldog Drummond series of films (and books) just like onionhead said. I even remember seeing a segment about it on "Lights, Camera, Action!" that old show hosted by Leonard Nimoy that ran on Nickelodeon in the early 80s.

Look for a way too short bit part by Billy Connelly, as just one of many old war buddies of Crummond's. The English countryside is just full of them in this film.
