Holy Toledo!!!!! I almost stayed awake for all of this one. Good ole Steve Railsback just KILLS me the way he can shout out lines and still have the facial features of bliss and calmness. Mathilda May does an EXCELLENT job of walking around naked tho.
I must admit, I enjoyed this movie alot better 15 years ago when i saw it on .....well, let's just say the colors were pretty.

I saw LIFEFORCE during its original theatrical run, and I was not impressed. I wonder how long Tobe Hooper can thrive off the success of THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE before investors realize that he is not a good director and stop paying him to make movies?

I have the LIFEFORCE DVD so I don't have to tell you if I like it or not.

But I agree Steve overacts throughout the movie. In fact, everyone overacts in it, maybe except for Mathilda. Peter Firth and Steve are miscast in their roles.

Has anyone here ever seen HELTER SKELTER, where Steve portrays Charles Manson? Everyone seems to be picking on Steve for ONE movie....Try out HELTER SKELTER sometime. One of his best performances....he captures the entire essence of Charlie really well. He's downright creepy in the film (originally a two-part tv movie).

Railsback is very good in HELTER SKELTER. He's also good in THE STUNT MAN as Cameron, the shell-shocked Vietnam vet on the run from the law. His intensity really sells the role of a man who may very well be losing his mind in the make believe circus of a Hollywood movie.

LIFEFORCE had potential, any given scene looks great, but the tone is always wrong and puts me off. I can only blame Hooper's direction.

I agree, Railsback was in top form in HELTER SKELTER and was also good in THE STUNT MAN. However, he has taken a big nose-dive since then.

I have not seen him in ED GEIN. Is it any good? Is the dvd letterboxed?

Has anyone here read "The Space Vampires," the Colin Wilson novel that LIFEFORCE is based on? I discovered it at a used bookstore a few years ago (it was the movie tie-in, and was retitled "Lifeforce") and found it to be a terrific story with Wilson inventing a fascinating alien backstory for the origin of vampires on Earth. In addition, the sci-fi elements are more pronounced in the book; as I recall, the main characters travel around in personal anti-gravity vehicles called "grasshoppers."

I saw "Lifeforce" some years ago and loved it, but I'll admit it didn't escape me that the plot didn't make much sense. I have tried to watch it again a couple of times, but I can't go through the first minutes. A pity.

Due to the horrifying nature of this film, no one will be admitted to the theatre.
