Jeez-o-pete!!!! I just found out they've made a TV series out of MBFGW called My Big Fat Greek Life! Give me a muh-fuggin break!!!!!! Looks like I may have to destroy my FIFTH television (I black out sometimes and take it out on the tube)
well, at least they didn't make a "Reality TV" show out of it. um......er.....maybe I shouldn't bring that up.........

the only reality show i WOULD want to see is that one with MC hammer and corey feldman and webster!!! but of course i only heard a tiny bit about it and i have yet to catch it on tv! i try SO HARD not to EVER watch that other crap and i cant keep it away from me! and THIS i WANT to see and i cant even remember what day its on! if its even on anymore! maybe it was deemed too "trashy"?! "but come on this was a very good movie." <--- There's NO way that a "good" flick needs as much hype that this one is receiving

aww come on. this was a great movie. it didn't try to be anything more than it was, and it was a lot of fun.

Now for the TV series they got like all the main cast back( cept the dude who does th ehusband from the movie) and Nia Vardalos is a co writer. give the damn show a chance, cant be any worse than friends.

Of all the standards for judging movies, don't you think this one is at least a little suspect?  It's like saying, "It's the most successful non-studio movie of all time, driven entirely by audience word-of-mouth -- if that many people liked it and recommended it to their friends, it couldn't POSSIBLY be any good."

And yes, I'll go on record as having enjoyed it immensely and recommended it to friends.

I really enjoyed My Big Fat Greek Wedding and have the DVD already. However, I think TV f**ks up a lot of movies and vice verca (Charlies Angels, or how about the Jackie Chan cartoon).

However, Memento should hold the title of best independent/word of mouth filkm. That one was truly awesome.

Haven't seen this one, but my Mom recommended it, so I'll pass. I mean, I love my Mom, but her taste in movies is for s**t. I admit that I am a Movie Snob, I'll shun, deride, and p**s on everything that has been dubbed main stream popular(while secretly watching Titanic at home, and weeping). But, there are some things I can't take. Feel Good Romance movies are one of those things. I loathe them, I find them repugnant, and when I watch them I can barely contain the vomit that is rising in my throat. The only exceptions are Feel Good Romance movies in which everyone dies at the end in an hour long ship wreck scene(dammit Rose, the boy weighs 98 pounds, you could lift him on to the friggin raft!!). Anyways, that's what I think.

1. sheela is the Phorum's latest Troll. Please ban (if possible).

2. I saw the movie last Friday night at a second-run theater. I was on a date, and we had nowhere else to go, and I remembered this movie having a lot of good reviews from critics and people I talk to that have seen it. And I must say...
...it's all worth it. I liked the movie, and laughed out loud at many of the jokes. I usually HATE these kinds of movies (for instance: Meet The Parents is, I feel, a total crap movie with ONE half-decent scene {when Ben Stiller is in the airport}, and the rest was all DeNiro trying to carry a poor movie). But this movie? Good B+ rating from me. I'd rent it, at least, because a lot of the jokes are more about the culture shock between Upper-Class Suburban Whites and Middle-Class Greeks (the father is hilarious, as is the brother).

it wasnt a s**t movie. You've already made yoru point that you didn't like it, no need to keep on repeating yourself. besides one advantage you have going is that if you dont like the show you can change the channel.

Finally saw the whole movie last night. We rented it once before, but stopped to watch something else.

I like the style of humour presented. Performances were generally good. It had funny moments and some great characters. That said, as an overall movie, it was good, but I didn't think it was as fabulous as everyone's been making it out to be. I liked it, but I don't see any need to watch it again.

As for the series, I'm a little wary, because of the tendency in both movies and television to take the latest big thing and beat it to death. There is also the obvious harm to be done by a bunch of suits monkeying with the show to make it compete with hits on the other channels. Could spell disaster. On the other hand, I intend to judge the show on its own merits.

This might open the floodgates for the following TV series (God help us):

* THE BANGER SISTERS

* RUNAWAY BRIDE

* MAID IN MANHATTAN

* SERVING SARA

Or (let's all join hands and pray)

* DUDE, WHERE'S MY CAR?

Just for the record . . . I enjoyed the movie MY BIG FAT GREEK WEDDING, but I am generally against ANY movie becoming a TV series (for the most part, nothing good can come of it).
